  Flipper what you just said is very true. His death stop progress in race relations in so many ways. Sunday my wife and I had the chance to listen to Professor Heron Simmons-Price. He is a Professor of political science at Canisius College in Buffalo. He is a leader in his community on racial problems for decades. I ask the question how can we help by bridging the Gap between races? His answer was just show kindness .

  Professor Simmons-Price is Jamaica born. He knows what racism is. He has lived it. But he stressed to me showing kindness to everyone is his biggest weapon in bringing people of different races together. His answer was so simple but so effective. I will never forget this instruction he gave me. Thank you for bringing this subject up. Take care my friend. Still Totally ADD

  My 71st Birthday Confessional

  i was born january 15, 1947in mt.

  carmel hospital, detroit, michigan.. within six months of my birth, my mother would bundle her baby boy into a blanket and board an american airlines propeller-driven plane--in effect, leaving my father behind--to return to her hometown, ft. worth, texas.. my dad had an excellent job working for cadillac as an inspector.

  How about everyone is allowed to get all the higher education they can get. Work more to make all the money you can and don't worry about missing meetings and going out in field service. Oral sex and masterbation is good for you and sex before marriage is OK as long as you get married to each other. My 10 cents worth. Still Totally ADD

  some of my old jw friends are sickly and getting on in age.

  so far, i’ve only gone to my mother’s memorial and have avoided the kingdom hall altogether.... your thoughts please?.

  I have only one parent. My mother who treated my wife and me so badly for several years using the so called truth as a weapon. I will not attend her funeral. She will be 95 this April and does not even know who I am or anyone else. If my brother wants to give her a memorial I won't be there.

  Someone said we need to show respect towards our parents for giving us life. But when abuse from them was a every day thing I feel the respectful thing to do was not be there. Still Totally ADD

  Anyone struggle to find meaning in life?

  just wondering if this is a common thing for you guys and girls?

  when i left the jws it was hard to make a connection with people, much of the time i felt that whatever they wanted to talk about just didn't seem relevant/deep/meaningful.

  i find myself filtering my mind to get to a level with others (small talk mostly).

  Like punkofnice I feel in many ways that people are a virus on this Earth. Then I read something very beautiful by someone or hear a piece of music another composed or played. People who work hard to make life better for all of life on Earth. Making connection with people of different backgrounds and helping others in any way I can gives me comfort.

  Living in the dream world of the Borg for most of my life and then leaving it has taken it's toll in finding meaning in life. But I am in many ways a eternal optimist With the freedom to use my mind now I enjoy life more now than ever. This is what keeps me going.

  My heart goes out to all of you who struggle with the meaning of life. My Hope is you find a place in your life that gives you meaning. Remember the Borg took our authentic personality from us and it is up to each of us to find who we really are. Good luck to all of us in our struggles. Still Totally ADD

  Manmade rules

  i was talking to someone a few years ago and he said in his congregation they have a rail of white shirts prepared in the cloakroom for if a speaker doesn't have a white shirt on.

  it was a rule in their hall that all brothers in the platform must wear white shirts when going talks and if the speaker won't comply when asked to change into the shirt they provide an elder in the congregation will do the talk instead.

  i have never known any other halls do it so it must be a rule the elders have made up without gb input.

  On a hot summer day back in the early 1970's a CO insisted the men in our car group wear jackets. It was only 90 degrees with humidity to match. He lasted about one house and the jacket came off. We was all laughing to ourselves. Once a sister brought a vase of flowers from her garden and placed on the piano. She was so happy and proud about how beautiful they were. Within minutes a elder grab the base of flowers and took them outside with her crying behind him while he was telling her flowers distract from the meeting and flowers are not appropriate for kingdom halls. The poor sister was humiliated and emotionally upset. Nothing like a cult to bring you down. Still Totally ADD

  How the Governing Body breaks people

  we all have likely heard the expression "to break a person" and usually it's in relation to kidnappers, bullies, pimps, human traffickers and cult leaders.. when a person is broken, their spirit, goals, aspirations, pursuits, self esteem, critical thinking and dreams are taken away.

  what fills that vacuum is despair, depression, low self esteem, lack of self confidence and individuality.

  the victim now believes that they are not worthy of enjoying life and following their dreams and personal satisfaction through personal achievements.

  My experience as a born-in was being broken down during the years in the Borg. Can't do this or you can't do that. When coming of age and becoming adult all my decision revolved around their teachings. Interesting thoughts. Thank you. Still Totally ADD

  glenster thank you for bringing this out. I use to love watching the Dick Van Dyke show when I was a kid. Sally was always the funny sarcastic person on the show. Dick's brother Jerry was also a very funny guy. I can't remember but I think he was on 2 episodes of the Dick Van Dyke show. He played a person with a sleeping problem. Sorry to see them both go. RIP. Still Totally ADD

  alamb I have no information to help you I just wanted to say how sorry I feel for your plight you are going through. Being a victim myself I just can't imagine the anger you having about what happen to your daughter. I hope you will be able to legally take your father to task on this problem.
